Rawhide Comedy Club returns to its previous home

LIVERPOOL’S nomadic Rawhide Comedy Club has a found a new home once again.

Tonight, the popular club, now in its 14th year, will be moving back to the Royal Court Theatre after the news that its current home, the Prohibition Bar and Grill, in Bold Street, is to close.

Rawhide had moved into it in September last year, having previously been at the venue from 1998 to 2000.

This time, instead of occupying the main auditorium of the club, it will be in the refurbished Downstairs Bar, originally modelled on the lounge of the Cunard liner the Queen Mary.

“Everyone here at Royal Court has missed the shows since we moved them out to the Prohibition, and we can’t wait to get started again,” said Iain Christie, marketing manager for Rawhide and the Royal Court.

“Throughout its existence, we have run the club in eight different venues and each time we manage to make it a little better. It must be nearly perfect now.”

Customers who were due to attend tonight and tomorrow’s sell-out shows at the Prohibition featuring comedians Brendan Riley, Canadian Jason Rouse, Kevin Bridges and Brendan Dempsey, have already been informed of the switch to the Royal Court. Performances begin at 8.30pm, but those who have ordered meals should arrive by 7.15pm.
