World awaits TV choir at festival’s weekend finale
THOUSANDS of people turned out for the penultimate weekend of the Brouhaha international festival.
The extravaganza visited St Helens and Southport this weekend, attracting between 3,500 and 4,000 visitors.
On Saturday, the festival will culminate with the World In Princes Park gig, which is expected to attract up to 40,000 people.
Giles Agis, executive director of Brouhaha International, said: “This year has exceeded all expectations and probably been the biggest year to date.
“Seven years on from the start of Brouhaha, it gets bigger and better – it was really important to make a statement this year in Capital of Culture.”
Making an appearance at the Princes Park concert on Saturday will be Liverpool’s Sense of Sound Choir, which is competing in the BBC’s Last Choir Standing television show. Mr Agis said he was hoping to persuade the crowd to send text message votes to the programme from the park.
“We really want to utilise the people there to try to get them as many votes as possible.”
World in Princes Park runs from noon to 7pm and will feature three stages.
