Christmas is coming . . . only five months to go

BEFORE you panic and check your diary, Christmas has not arrived five months early – but for the company which creates these scenes it is the festive season all year long.

The Christmas Decorators, based in Wavertree, have brightened up many homes and businesses of the rich and famous over the past four years, including Wayne Rooney and Sharon Osbourne.

And for them Christmas is a theme 365 days a year, as they design, plan and even dismantle the festive trees, baubles and tinsel from January through to December.

Last week the company held a promotional event at the Grey Space city centre studio on Water Street, to showcase their displays to Liverpool businesses.

The enterprise was started by Liverpool husband and wife team, Nick and Sarah Bolton, and it is inundated with decorative requests every year, from individuals, businesses and celebrities.

Director of Sales, Martin Coop, said: “We get all of the football fraternity on our books, the most famous being Wayne Rooney and also restaurants such as Gordon Ramsey’s Claridges in London and Sharon Osbourne's home in High Wickham.

“We are also talking to Elton John’s agent and that would be fantastic to do.

“We decorated Wayne Rooney’s home in Alderley Edge in a very elegant, traditional way, it looked wonderful and we have also done work for Colleen’s parents too.

“We really do deal with all sorts of clients and towards the end of the year we have to start declining work because we are busy.”

The business, which currently has four full time members of staff and more than 40 at Christmas time, has had so much success that they are beginning to franchise out branches, the first being in Plymouth.

Sites in the South East and Glasgow will soon follow.

Mr Coop said: “Although we do have many local clients such as Aintree Racecourse, so much of our business is down south.

“We want to increase business within Merseyside and the North West now and have even started to turn down London business to concentrate on the local area.

“One of our most popular services is the dismantling of decorations after the season, it is the last thing people want to do.

“It is bizarre but you get used to it.

“The work is great and it is so nice to see people’s faces when they come into our showroom, their faces light up and they all seem to turn into children again.”
