THE Highways Agency in the North West has hailed the contribution of its employees to Britain’s armed forces.
More than 20 veterans of HM Armed Forces, now working for the Highways Agency, attended a special ceremony yesterday to receive special badges and certificates from the High Sheriff of Merseyside Mrs Judith Greensmith.
The special veterans badges and certificates are being distributed across the country to former soldiers, sailors and airmen and women as part of the third annual national Veterans Day celebrations launched by the Government in 2006.
Yesterday’s event was staged at the Haydock Thistle near the Highways Agency’s North West Regional Control Centre (RCC) – headquarters of the North West Traffic Officer Service – at Newton-le-Willows.
