A WIRRAL woman was killed in a quad biking accident during a Greek island holiday.
Melissa Macaulay, 23, died from her injuries on Tuesday on Skiathos.
Details of the accident are unclear, but there is no police investigation or any suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Early indications are that Miss Macaulay rented a quad bike and suffered internal injuries after crashing or falling off the vehicle. It is understood she was on holiday with her boyfriend, Adam Mairs.
It is not known whether Mr Mairs, who is said to run Bar Cuba on Market Street in Hoylake, was with her at the time.
Ms Macaulay graduated from Nottingham Trent University.
A man who answered the door at the family’s home address in Barnston said last night: “Everyone here is devastated by what’s happened.”
Skiathos is popular with young British holiday-makers with its bustling nightlife.
Concerns about hiring quad bikes abroad has grown after a rise in serious and fatal accidents.
