City’s culture revealed

A WEEKEND of lens-bursting colour has started to yield some eye-popping shots on the Daily Post’s online photo-sharing site, Flikr.

First to arrive on the site was greybeats’ port- rait of The Emperor rising high above New- sham Park on Friday.

The weather provided a glowering backdrop to The Emperor and Tiger show and fireworks display, which delighted thousands.

This has been followed by scores of street-level shots of the Samba dancers that paraded through the streets on Saturday.

Flickr-user Peterphotographic, however, got high above the streets to capture Liverpool from the top of Liverpool Cathedral.

The rows of Georgian houses in and around the city’s cultural centre present a very different view of Liverpool.

Flickr snappers appear to have climbed to the top of most of the buildings in Merseyside to get a new angle on the Capital of Culture.

It is often said, long and loud, that it is the people who make Liverpool. Cassini’s snap of the daring driver who risked life and limb to cross the Mersey before the Parade of Sails last month demonstrates this. The lifeguard in the foreground is a nice touch.
