Kung Fu club celebrates race victory in city’s new Dragon Boat festival

ORGANISERS hailed the inaugural Liverpool Marina Boat Show and Dragon Boat Festival Race as a great success. An estimated 600 people attended the free show at the marina.

The overall winners of the Dragon Boat event, by a photo-finish, were the Liverpool Hung Gar Kung Fu Club, based in Seel Street.

Event organiser Diane Goodhead said: “We are especially grateful to Shepherds, Drakes International and Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service, who are sponsoring the Sea Cadets and Liverpool Collegiate Rugby Club dragon boat teams.”

Future special nautical events include the Liverpool Marina Oyster Festival on September 12, the Glaciere Ocean Youth Trust Black Tie Dinner on October 25, and the Pirates Party of the Year on November 21.
