Shopping centre urges customers to spurn their bras in aid of two good causes

A LIVERPOOL shopping centre has a strange request of its visitors – it wants bras.

Belle Vale Shopping Centre has started a month-long charity bra collection to raise money for the Zoe’s Place hospice.

At the end of the campaign, early next month, the bras will be weighed and money per kilo given to the hospice.

The bras will then be taken thousands of miles to Third World countries, where they cost more than a meal for a family.

Belle Vale manager Bill Reid said: "I know what a strong and caring community Liverpool is.

"We can ensure that Zöe’s Place receives great support for the wonderful work it does."

The unusual charity collection will help Zöe’s Place cares for babies with complex and life-limiting illnesses up to the age of five.

The hospice is run by a team of children’s nurses and care assistants.

They provide one-to-one care and create a warm and homely environment for the children.

Zöe’s Place does not receive any Government or NHS cash, so it relies on money from the public.

* THE bright pink "bra bank" will be in the central square at Belle Vale, next to the Superlambanana, until September 1.

Any clean, wearable bras of any size will be appreciated.
