Faye’s brave life is celebrated after bone marrow transplant girl’s death

THE life of Merseyside schoolgirl Faye Lafferty was celebrated yesterday at her funeral at St Agnes church, in Huyton.

The eight-year-old died two months after undergoing a bone marrow transplant.

Faye, who was a pupil at St Anne’s RC Primary School, had a transplant in May to cure a rare blood disorder.

The Huyton youngster suffered from aplastic anaemia – a condition which stops the production of blood cells.

Despite a donor being found in Australia and a four-hour operation which doctors considered a success, Faye suffered recurring infections and died last week.
