Armed raid on pawn shop

A HOODED robber demanded cash from petrified staff at a Chester pawn brokers on Saturday.

The two Money Shop workers handed over the money after they were threatened with what appeared to be a hand gun.

The attacker targeted the Brook Street store in broad daylight, shortly after 10am on August 9.

There was one male and one female member of staff on duty at the time. Police said both were left “very shaken” by the ordeal, although no one was injured.

There were no customers in the store at the time.

The robber fled the store on foot towards the Mill Hotel.

He is described as 5ft8 tall, of average build and was wearing a grey hooded top, a grey balaclava, a darker coloured jacket and grey jogging bottoms.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for anybody who may have witnessed any part of the incident, including the offender prior to offence occurring as he may have put on the balaclava nearby, or who may have had interaction with him.”

Anyone with information should call 0845 458 00 00.
