THE World Firefighter Games will start today with a spectacular opening ceremony at the Echo Arena, on Liverpool’s waterfront.
The Olympic-style open- ing ceremony starts with a parade along the waterfront, beginning at Keel Wharf.
The route will be a hive of activity, displaying the flags of all competing nations and an exhibition by the fire service’s marine vehicles on the Mersey.
At 1.30pm, the 3,000- strong crowd of firefighters, who hail from more than 30 countries, will stage a huge sing-along of Hey Jude.
Once at the Arena, the ceremony begins at 3pm, with a display featuring the extreme stunts of Parkour and carnival entertainment from Brouhaha International.
