Everton fans’ bid for fair hearing

EVERTON FC shareholders will hold an extraordinary general meeting tonight to go over the details of the club’s proposed move to Kirkby.

Everton and Tesco’s £400m plans to build a superstore and stadium in Kirkby are scheduled to go to a public inquiry to be held on November 18.

More than 300 shareholders are expected to attend tonight’s meeting, and have lobbied to have a show of hands to gauge the support for a resolution urging the club to stay in Liverpool.

However, acting chief executive Robert Elstone has ruled this out in favour of a poll vote, meaning major shareholders look certain to carry the day.

Mr Elstone also ruled out any discussion of items not on the proposed agenda meaning disgruntled shareholders believe their concerns are not getting a full airing.
