Barrister carried out fatal threat

AN INQUEST heard how a Wirral barrister was found dead an hour after he had threatened to kill himself.

Mark Gray, 41, was found in his bedroom on July 19 with a dressing-gown belt around his neck after an argument with his partner of six years, Amanda Quinn.

Mr Gray, of Park Road, West Kirby, worked for the Wirral-based National Family Law Practice with Ms Quinn. Engaged for two years, they had lived together since Easter.

They rowed after a night out and Mr Gray was upset as they dis-cussed their relation-ship in the morning.

Coroner’s officer Arthur Flower said Mrs Quinn had told how Mr Gray had put the cord around his neck and said: “I really will do it this time”. He had done this several times be-fore and she became used to his behaviour.

She left the room but on returning found him slumped on the floor.

Coroner Christopher Johnson recorded a narrative verdict.
