AN EXCLUSIVE west Wirral country club could find out today if it will be given permission to build a helicopter landing pad.
The Grange, near Thornton Hough, has applied to Wirral Council for change of use of land for landing and taking off of helicopters.
So far, just one objection has been received, from the Thornton Hough Community Trust on the grounds that, if approved, it would cause disruption and disturbance to local residents.
A report to the planning committee of the local authority, which meets tonight, also says a letter has been received from a resident in support of the proposal.
The proposal is for part of existing land to be used for the landing and take-off of helicopters, but does not include any ground or operational works.
According to the applicant, Clive Barnes, of the Grange Country Club Ltd, they would not expect more than one flight per day.
The hours of use are stated as Monday to Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday 10am-8pm and Sundays 10am-4pm.
However, officers have recommended that the application be refused.
