A MAN has appeared at court in connection with the murder of a father-of-10 at a newsagents.
Abdo Saeed Al-Selwi, who was originally from Yemen, was shot in the chest as he worked behind the counter of Carol’s newsagents, Page Moss Parade.
He was pronounced dead at the shop after being gunned down in the early hours of May 31.
Ronald Higgins, of Stonefield Road, Dovecot, is accused of his murder.
The 37-year-old appeared at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday via video-link from Walton prison. He is also charged with attempted robbery and possession of a firearm.
But the Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Henry Globe, QC, adjourned the plea and case management hearing until November 10.
It is understood much of the incident was captured on CCTV.
Paramedics arrived at the shop after being alerted by a member of the public, but they were unable to save Mr Al-Selwi.
