Radio DJ admits drink driving

RADIO City DJ Kev Seed has been handed a £1,250 fine and banned from driving for 12 months after pleading guilty to drink driving.

He appeared in court yesterday after he was stopped by police in Lancashire last Wednesday on the southbound carriageway of the M6.

Police patrol stopped the 40- year-old DJ in Higher Walton, near Leyland.

Seed, of Canal View, Melling, appeared before South Ribble magistrates. If he attends a driving course, the 12-month ban could be reduced to nine months.

He was suspended by the radio station where he made his name after details of the drink-drive charge became known.

Richard Maddock, station director, at Radio City said after Seed’s guilty plea yesterday: "Radio City condemns the act of drink-driving and over the years has actively worked on campaigns to address the issue across Merseyside, the North West and North Wales.

"Following Kev Seed’s admission of guilt this afternoon, he will remain suspended from his on air duties pending a decision about his future."
