Singer Katy Perry _320
A PARTY area could be set up at Albert Dock for MTV Europe Music Awards.
An application to create the licensed area for dance performances, live music, theatrics, alcohol and food consumption has been received by the city council and is being negotiated.
More details should become available in the next few days.
It was also revealed yesterday that singer Katy Perry will host the awards at the Echo Arena Liverpool, on November 6.
Richard Godfrey, awards executive producer, said: “Katy Perry has been one of the freshest and most successful new artists to emerge on the interna-tional music scene this year, which is witnessed by her nomination in two categories.
“We want to pursue a much more informal and relaxed role for the host at this year’s awards, but with a definite musical twist, and we think Katy will be perfect.”
The 23-year-old Californ-ian musician rose to fame after the digital release of Ur So Gay in 2007, follow-ed in 2008 by I Kissed A Girl which celebrated over 5m sales.
She said: “To follow in the footsteps of previous hosts Christina Aguilera, Tom Jones, P. Diddy and Snoop Dogg at this prest-igious event is an incredi-ble honour. I just hope that I don't spill my cocktail!”
