Wirral-born James Bond star Daniel Craig launches new 007 film Quantum of Solace

DANIEL CRAIG joined the producers and stars of the new Bond film, Quantum of Solace, for the start of the film’s worldwide promotional tour in the Russian capital yesterday.

The Wirral-born actor was joined at a press conference in Moscow by producer Barbara Broccoli, director Marc Forster and co-stars Olga Kurylenko and Anatole Taubman.

Asked what the most challenging scenes in the film were, Craig – who does many of the stunts himself – said that a freefall sequence where he and Kurylenko leap out of a plane was among the most difficult.

“We did this in a wind tunnel with winds of 200 mph ripping around us and 20 cameras shooting from all around,” said Craig, adding that a stuntman badly injured during filming in Italy had now made an “almost full recovery.”

Craig needed plastic surgery after an accident on set, in which he severed his fingertip and had eight stitches on his face after being accidentally kicked by one of his co-stars. The film is released in the UK on October 31.
