Man stabbed in “racially aggravated attack” after trying to help shopkeeper

Police at scene of stabbing on Park Road

A 24 YEAR-old man was stabbed in the stomach outside a city newsagent in what police described today as a “racially aggravated attack”.

It happened just minutes after the 24-year-old Yemeni shopkeeper was threatened and racially abused by two men.

The attack happened outside Park Road Newsagents and General Store, in Park Road, Toxteth, at around 8.20pm yesterday.

The newsagent was closing up for the day when a number of people from the flat above joined him.

Two hooded men, believed to be the pair who threatened the newsagent just 10 minutes earlier, returned.

It is understood an argument broke out and a 24-year-old man suffered a number of injuries including a stab wound to the stomach.

The two hooded males, who are described as being white and in their 30’s, left the shop.
