MERCHANT Taylors’ has unveiled new plans for a multi-million-pound indoor sports facility.
The Daily Post can exclusively reveal images of the new sports facility which will be built at the Boy’s school on Liverpool Road, Crosby. An application has been submitted to Sefton Council for a two-storey multi-use sports hall with fitness studio, dance/drama studio and changing facilities. It will also encompass a refreshment/ classroom area, offices, and an external viewing area on the first floor.
Outside a climbing wall zone will also be built next to a landscaped viewing area.
The existing pavilion would be demolished to make space for the hall as will the existing fenced tennis courts.
If built the new sports facility will be used by both junior and senior boys and girls from the four Merchant Taylors’schools.
The Girls’ School headteacher Louise Robinson said: “It is an exciting new project that will extend our all year round sporting provision.”
However, the plans have received two letters of complaint and were considered at a planning committee meeting last night.
Leading North West Architects, Buttress Fuller Alsop Williams, have designed the contemporary building which is described as “inspirational, light, bright and welcoming”.
