AUTUMNAL sun has helped create some stunning shots of Liverpool on the Daily Post’s photo sharing group.
Flickr user Digital Relish had to get up very early to grab a wonderfully still image of Liverpool’s waterfront. Heavy crimson clouds and a serene River Mersey has made this a stand-out photograph and it really demon-strates how Liverpool has come of age as a city.
Andy O'Hare’s City Street zooms into this tranquil image of the city and strips away the colour and distant glamour.
His vision is a slightly menacing black and white shot of a lone figure with an elongated shadow. It is an almost graphic novel style photograph that could well have featured in an episode of BBC 2’s superhero serial, Heroes, and has won praise from fellow contributors.
Against these pictures of urban Liverpool is a warm portrait of Bidston Windmill, by Flickr regular From the Northshore. Slanting October light makes this a picture perfect shot of rural life – just a mile out of Birkenhead.
Yayoi Kusma’s installation, The Gleaming Lights of the Souls, is a perfect example of the diversity and creativity Liverpool is awash with at the moment.
This mysterious photograph was taken by Torl Porl at Pilkington’s, on Sparling Street. The effect, created by an infinity mir-ror, is said to have an hallucinat-ory impact on visitors. It is an image that has made several appearances on our Flickr pages, which now boast more than 8,500 pictures. All the pictures can be viewed at www.liverpool dailypost.co.uk/flickr and adding your own is easily done at www.flickr.com/groups/liverpooldailypost08
Pictures larger than 200dpi are also printed every Friday as a half page Postcard of Merseyside, providing a unique opportunity for Liverpool’s photographers to show off their best work.
