TAKE That are the latest band to confirm they will perform at this year’s MTV Europe Awards at the Echo Arena, Liverpool.
Britney Spears is also hotly tipped to make an appearance and the Daily Post under-stands negotia-tions are in the advanced stages.
A city source close to the MTV awards said: “We are expecting an announcement on Britney mak-ing an appear-ance in Liver-pool for the MTV awards in the a few days.”
Her new sin-gle Womanizer is at the top spot of the US charts on it’s first week of release.
Taken from her forthcoming album Circus it is the first num-ber one for Spears since her debut single Baby One More Time in 1999.
Take That’s performance on November 6 precedes the release of, The Circus, their long-awaited follow-up album to the nine times platinum Beautiful World.
Take That debuted for MTV in 1994 at the very first MTV Eur-ope Mu sic Awards at the Brand-enburg Gate, Berlin, where they scooped the Best Group award.
Richard Godfrey, senior vice president of MTV Europe Music Awards, said: “This is a historic moment in the MTV Europe Music Awards. Take That were part of the first awards show and it is only fitting that they return to the MTV Europe Music Awards for its 15th anniversary.”
Take That will join fellow performers Beyonce, Pink, Duffy, The Killers and Kid Rock on the stage on the night of the awards, which is hosted by Katy Perry.
ROCK legend Eric Clapton will take the stage at the Echo Arena on May 13 as part of a UK tour.
