LIVERPOOL’S distinctive ship-shaped hotel celebrated its 35th birthday yesterday.
The Thistle Atlantic Tower threw a huge birthday bash to celebrate being on the waterfront.
Fire eaters, stilt walkers and a steel band were among the entertainment at the glitzy bash.
Gavin Kerruish, market-ing co-ordinator said: “We are the most successful hotel in the Thistle Group and have gone from strength to strength.
“We wanted to celebrate a significant birthday and remember the history of such an iconic building; among our special guests were couples who got married 20 or 30 years ago.
“We invited them back to tell us about their special day and see our new refurbishments.”
The hotel has attracted guests from Julie Walters to Ian Botham and Billie Piper and is already full for next month’s MTV awards.
