COUNCILLORS last night voted against deferring the decision to close Croxteth Comprehensive (CC).
In doing so, they voted against a brand new proposal which could have seen the comprehensive turned into a “studio school”.
A packed-out Liver-pool Town Hall full of angry parents and pupils heard Coun Ann O’Byrne push the idea for CC to become a pilot as a small US-style “studio school”.
With around 300 pu-pils, studio schools focus on individual and personalised learning – lost in bigger schools.
Coun O’Byrne called the idead “visionary”, asking for a report into studio schools to be brought back to the Education and Skills Select Committee to show how this could benefit Clubmoor, Crox- teth and Norris Green.
A statutory notice of closure will now go out, with a six-week consultation period.
