Row over alcohol led to Somali boy's death - court hears

The jury heard Ali Moham-med asked Ahmed Mohamoud Ahmed if he wanted a fight.

A bat was taken from a car and hit over the 16-year-old’s head by another attacker as Ali Mohammed held him.

Later, Ahmed Mohamoud Ahmed’s mother’s car was smashed up by four men wielding baseball bats.

The prosecution claim some of the defendants on trial for murder were responsible for the damage, which was a “follow up” to the attack.

The jury heard on the day of the killing, Ahmed Moham-oud Ahmed was followed by some or all the defend-ants in a Mercedes car as he went out for milk.

Mr Holroyde said Ahmed Mohamoud Ahmed described recognising two of the defendants carrying bats before fleeing into the house.

The jury heard the following day, on the evening of the killing, a fight was arranged in Sefton Park by defendant Khadar Mohammed telephoning Ahmed Mohamoud Ahmed, with eventual victim Ahmed Mohammed Ibrahim accom-panying his cousin to the scene.

Mr Holroyde QC said: “It is the prosecution case there was a very frightening and murderous attack by the defendants on their victim.

The prosecution claim Ahmed Mohammed Ibrahim saw his cousin being attacked and went over to ask them to stop, which prompted the attack on him.

The case continues.
