VAUXHALL’S Ellesmere Port plant will be closed for “at least three extra days” over the normal Christmas shutdown, the company confirmed last night.
The factory will be closed from December 17 to January 3 in a move which comes as it is currently closed for two weeks to stop over-production.
It follows yesterday’s announcement Jaguar Land Rover’s Halewood plant is to axe 115 temporary workers at the end of November.
Earlier this month, Vauxhall announced it was ceasing production in October for four days near the begin- ning of the month, followed by the current two-week break.
A spokesman for Vauxhall insisted they were weathering the financial storms better than their competitors.
