Transplant man’s Super thanks

A SUPERLAMBA-NANA designed by a kidney transplant patient has been installed at the hospital which saved his life.

It was while being treated at the Royal Liverpool that Mike Curtis designed his Lambanana. The artist, from Belle Vale, responded to an appeal for creative ideas and created one on the theme of organ transplants, named Loop of Life.

Installed outside the Royal this week, it was unveiled by Mr Curtis along with his transplant donor and uncle, Tony Leonard.

Mr Curtis said: “I put together a design based on those organs which are most needed from donors – heart, liver, kidney, lungs, pancreas, cornea.

“It was my way to saying thank you to all the staff at the Royal and Broadgreen, who have been fantastic ever since I was diagnosed.”
