SEVEN women across Merseyside were charged yesterday in relation to tax credit fraud totalling over an estimated £305,000.
The action follows an investigation by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) into a number of unrelated false claims involving understated household income, undeclared marriage or partnership status, falsified working hours or income and inflated childcare costs.
The women charged were: Laine Campbell, 26, of Wilmer Road, Anfield; Lisa Collins, 41, of Blackrod Road, Speke; Katharine Rachel Gershman, 28, of Pleasington Close, Prenton, Wirral; Kerry Lavery, 29, of Birchwood Close, Birkenhead; Joan McDonald, 40, of Heywood Gardens, Whiston; Brenda Terese McGarrity (nee Lawrence), 45, of Griffiths Close, Greasby; and Tracey Swindlehurst, 40, of Bedford Road, Birkenhead.
