Festive crime drops

LESS crime was committed on Merseyside this Halloween compared with previous years, according to police.

The period from October 30 to November 5 is one of the busiest times of the year for the emergency services, and this year a comprehensive approach across various organisations helped reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, compared with the same period in 2007.

Incidents of anti-social behaviour fell by 21%, rowdy or inconsiderate behaviour fell by 16% and the inappropriate use, sale or possession of fireworks fell by 44%. Criminal damage fell by 6% and violent crime by 2%.
