Opera Soprano star Elena Dee at the Anglican Cathedral with local children from Elliott Clarke School _320
YOUNG opera singers from Elliott Clarke theatre school rehearsed at Liverpool Cathedral yesterday alongside star soprano Elena Dee.
The children, who were singing in Italian, played a scene from Puccini’s opera Tosca in preparation for their stage debut at the Liverpool Empire in December.
Dee, the lead soprano, also treated the children to a performance, in full costume, of the aria Vissi d’Arte.
A spokesperson for Ellen Kent Ampitheatre Productions said: “This is the perfect setting for the rehearsal as the children are performing in a cathedral scene in this spectacular performance of Tosca.”
She added: “Ellen Kent is always keen to use local talent in her traditional productions.”
The children will also appear as mischievous urchins in a production of La Boheme and as townspeople in Carmen, both at the Empire in December.
