Merseyside Police still hunting for Joseph Lappin's killers

Joseph Lappin

POLICE today admitted that the hunt was still on for the killers of Liverpool teenage army cadet Joseph Lappin.

The 16-year-old from Old Swan was knifed in the heart outside a youth club after being chased by a gang on Monday October 20.

An autopsy carried out by Dr Graham Rogers showed the former Cardinal Heenan Catholic high school pupil died from shock and a haemorrhage after being stabbed in the heart outside Shrewsbury House youth club, in Everton.

Speaking today at an inquest into Joseph’s death, a senior officer in the investigation, DI Lawrence Forrest, of the Force Crime Operation’s Unit, told the court that although the public had offered information there had been no recent updates in the case.

He said: "We have had extensive co-operation from members of the public and their help has been invaluable.

"Their information has directly led to a number of significant lines of inquiry which are continuing.

"We have a large volume of information at this time which is all being processed.

"This will take some to do but is being treated with the highest priority.

"However if anyone has information that is being held back we would urge them to come forward."
