Sexual assault on woman in Southport cemetery

A 24-YEAR-OLD woman was left “severely traumatised” after a serious sexual assault in a Southport cemetery.

The incident happened in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police said the woman had been out in the area of Bakers Bar in Southport town centre. It is believed she left the town centre in a vehicle, possibly a taxi, with a man and got out in Cemetery Road.

Shortly afterwards, the woman was attacked within Duke Street cemetery. She is now being treated for serious injuries in hospital.

The offender is white, in his 30s, tall, of thin build, with fair hair.

He wore a cream coloured jacket.
