A FASHION show in memory of a mother-of-nine who died of cystic fibrosis was attended by family, friends and celebrity supporters last night.

Jackie Culshaw, 58, died last year, four years after she lost two of her children to the illness.

Last night a star studded event was held at Alma de Cuba on Seel Street to raise funds for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust in her memory.

Mrs Culshaw was diagnosed at the age of 42, after catching the cepacia infection when looking after her daughter Sammy, and her son Stuart, who died in 2003, aged 27 and 22.

More than 1,000 family and friends filled St Edmund’s Church, Waterloo, for her funeral.

The selfless mother, who was also a foster carer to three children, was awarded a posthumous Special Award at the Daily Post’s Women of the Year awards ceremony last year and crowned Mrs Britain by ITV’s This Morning programme in 1993 .

Her husband Tony and several of her children enjoyed the show last night, including her youngest daughter, Anna Stevenson, 23.

Mrs Stevenson said: “I have lived with CF all my life. My brother was diagnosed at birth, and my sister aged three.

“They spent a lot of time in hospital for weeks at a time yet my mum was a tower of strength.

“She was diagnosed much later in life with a milder form of the illness but continued to care for us all.
