Lord Mayor, Steve Rotheram, joins the "Walk A Mile In Her Shoes" fundraiser, for the White Ribbon campaign, anti-domestic violence charity _320
HIGH heels were donned by supporters of an anti-domestic violence charity yesterday.
The Lord Mayor, Steve Rotheram, joined seven other men and hordes of women to raise funds for the White Ribbon campaign, which aims to prevent male violence towards women and children.
They walked down Bold Street to Williamson Square during the fundraiser, entitled “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes”.
The event was part of a week of events to raise the charity’s profile, including a gala dinner and a football tournament.
Cllr Rotheram said: “The event itself was a bit tongue in cheek, but the message is a very serious one within society.
“We are making sure the people of Liverpool and Merseyside never condone this behaviour in any way.
“The idea was to walk a mile in a woman’s shoes and, although I did not get that far, it was still very difficult, I felt like I was on stilts!”
