Girl, 3, fights for life after Everton arson

A THREE year-old girl was fighting for her life today following a suspected arson attack at her home.

The tot suffered serious burns in the suspicious blaze which broke out shortly after midnight.

A 40-year-old man – believed to be the girl’s dad – was also in hospital after breaking both his legs jumping from the first-floor window of the house in Norwood Grove, Tuebrook.

The fire is said to have quickly spread through the porch and hallway area of the semi-detached.

Fire crews from Low Hill fire station fought their way into the house to rescue the girl, named locally as Francesca, from a first-floor bedroom.

Three other children - a 17 month-old girl called Anne-Marie, a girl, eight, called Christine and a boy, 14, called Kieran, together with a 40 year-old woman called Eleanor, who is believed to be the children’s mum, and the children’s dad, also called Kieran, managed to escape the blaze before fire crews arrived.

They were all taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and minor injuries.
