SHOPPERS in Liverpool and Wirral will be allowed to park for free at selected car parks every Thursday evening in the run-up to Christmas.
Wirral’s “free after 3” parking initiative will start on Thursday, December 4 and run every Thursday in the run-up to Christmas in shoppers’ car parks in Birkenhead, Liscard, Heswall and West Kirby.
The scheme will also allow free all day parking on Boxing Day and New Years Day to attract shoppers to the Christmas and New Year sales and follows the VAT cut from 17.5% to 15%.
In Liverpool, off-street parking will be free on Thursday nights from December 4 from 5pm at car parks at Mount Pleasant, Victoria Street, Dale Street, Old Haymarket, Fontenoy Street, Hunter Street, Burgess Street, Kempston Street, Craven Street and Lambeth Street.
