MERSEY poet Roger McGough and Liverpool-born comic and author Alexei Sayle are among guests lined up for Waterstone’s new store in the Liverpool One complex.
The shop, which has its official launch on Saturday, is the chain’s biggest new bookstore in nearly a decade.
It features an Espressamente Illy coffee shop which seats 100 people, and a special events area where the store will host signings and talks.
Roger McGough will visit for its first event on Friday, followed by Alexei Sayle and other Liverpool authors on December 10, and World Superbike hero James Toseland on December 14.
Saturday’s launch will be a childrens-themed event with children’s characters, and a live jazz band.
Waterstone’s managing director Gerry Johnson said: “This is the bookshop the Capital of Culture deserves.”
