Tories on the warpath over library cuts meetings

Leah Fraser, prospective Conservative candidate for Wallasey, said: “This consultation is quickly turning out to be a farce.”

The council says it faces a mounting backlog for repairs to authority owned and run buildings and that difficult decisions have to be made to avoid mounting council tax bills.

A spokeswoman for Wirral Council said the hire of the Floral Pavilion “will not incur any cost to the council” and added: “The council is committed to consulting local people on future plans for the borough.”

The meetings will be at the Lauries Centre in Birkenhead on January 5, at Hulme Hall in Port Sunlight on January 6, at West Kirby Concourse on January 7 and at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton on January 8.
