Christmas tree being installed in Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral _220
THE North West’s largest real Christmas tree has been installed inside Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.
The 60ft Sitka Spruce was carefully winched into place during a painstaking four-hour operation yesterday morning. For the fifth year running, the Forestry Commission at Grizedale Forest, in Cumbria, has donated the tree to the city’s famous landmark.
Tim Gill, from the Forestry Commission in the North West, said: “There’s no substitute for a real Christmas tree. The Sitka spruce has attractive bushy foliage and gives off a lovely pine scent.
“The impressive 60-foot specimen looks stunning in the Cathedral’s main hall.”
