LIPA students provide a gateway mysterious works of art on Hope Street
GIANT puppets and mysterious artworks converged on Liverpool’s Hope Street yesterday.
Students from LIPA created a 6ft Doctor Hahnemann puppet inspired by Hope Street’s Hahnemann Building.
The distinctive building housed the city’s Homeopathic Hospital which inspired students Charlotte Hudders, 22, and Laura Hollowell, 20, in their live art module. Other students Leah Tansey, 20, Liz Culley and Kat Egan made the “missing gate” outside Gambier Terrace.
The original gate was taken down during World War Two and melted to make ammunition, so the students hung grenades and guns on the replacement.
The students are in their second year of a theatre and performance design course.
