Anfield heroes Phil Neal, Alan Kennedy, Roy Evans, and Phil Thompson with the Kenny Dalglish painting by Anthony Brown _320
FOOTBALL legends gazed at a portrait of Kenny Dalglish which crowned a grand charity luncheon yesterday.
The 5ft by 4ft work by one of Liverpool’s most prolific artists, Tony Brown, was up for auction at the fundraising event.
Last night organisers were totting up the proceeds which will go towards the Marina Dalglish Appeal and the Lord Mayor of Liverpool’s charities; Alder Hey’s Imagine Appeal, the Alzheimer Society and the Merseybeat Appeal.
Football pundit Alan Hansen, Liverpool’s Phil Thompson and Everton’s Graeme Sharp were among the Mersey legends attending the event at the waterfront’s Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Lorraine Brown, wife of Tony Brown, said her husband was delighted to be able to help such worthy charities.
Mrs Brown said: “Tony approached Marina and Kenny about becoming a ‘head’ and in the background are images associated with his footballing career and his family.
“We’re delighted that the portrait raised so much money for worthy causes close to both our hearts.”
Mr Brown’s previous portraits of Kenny, produced in 2006 and 2007 including a Kennylambanana, raised over £31,000.
