A THIRD white rhino has been born at Knowsley Safari Park in under five months.
Staff are celebrating the arrival of the as-yet-unnamed, eight-stone male, which joins strapping bull calf Flannery, who was born in July and female Cara, who arrived in October.
The newborn and 13-year-old mum, Piglet, are both doing well and the arrival means the park’s “crash” of rhinos is now 10 strong – three bulls, four cows and the three babies.
Safari Park general manager David Ross said: “We’re now doing as well as any zoo or park in Europe in terms of breeding this species, which is endangered.”
The park chief added that visitors could see the new rhino sooner rather than later.
