Cuts to libraries in Wirral have left the service near ‘crisis point’

Cllr Foulkes rebutted these claims last night, saying with 24 libraries, Wirral had a “massive” number of outlets compared to other boroughs.

He added: “They’re bound to say that, aren’t they, because obviously they’re defending their workers as any rightful trade union would.

“If the argument put forward by Unison is that we have a library on every street corner, it’s nonsensical.

“We want lots more people engaging in the libraries, we don’t want them walking away, as they are now.”
