THE final member of a gang which plundered £222,000 of goods has been jailed – despite not turning up at court.
Stephen Yates, of Kingsway, Prescot, was part of a band of thieves who admitted using stolen lorries and vans to raid industrial units and yards.
Over four months, the group made off with thousands of pounds of boxer shorts, fresh fish, golfing equipment and even tomato ketchup.
Despite again not turning up at court, Judge David Aubrey yesterday jailed Yates for 18 months for his part in the conspiracy.
The 24-year-old has already served a 10- month sentence in connection with the gang’s spate of crimes.
Judge Aubrey warned that Yates, who admitted conspiracy to steal, would be brought in front of him for the bail offence.
