A MAN was in a critical condition in hospital last night after suffering serious injuries in a fight in Liverpool city centre.
Police cordoned off Dale Street to carry out forensic investigations in connection with the incident, which is believed to have taken place in Stanley Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Officers arrived at the scene at around 2.30am.
Merseyside Police did not identify the injured man, but said he had suffered serious head injuries and wahad been described as in a critical condition.
A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: “A man who had been out with friends had become involved in a fight with another man.
“He was taken to hospital with head injuries.”
Police were holding interviews with a number of witnesses on Sunday.
