Handyman poised to make journey of Hope to African orphanage

A LAW firm’s handyman is making a life-changing trip to Morocco to help build an orphanage.

Charles Conaghan, who works for Morecroft’s solicitors on Merseyside, will be using his skills to help install electrics and complete an extension to the orphanage, known as the Village of Hope.Š

Built high in the Middle Atlas Mountains, near an area called Ain Leuh, the Village of Hope provides a permanent home, education and care for children from five to 18 years old.

The project is being funded by Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Moreton, Wirral. The church held a fundraising evening, including a raffle, auction and entertainment which raised more than £5,000 to be spent on materials for the extension.

Mr Conaghan is a member of the Merseyside Link Christian Trust and has been involved in a number of similar projects, including building a hospital in Zimbabwe and a bridge to an island in Zambia.

He said: “The Village of Hope is making a genuine difference in Morocco, providing a loving and caring community for children who have lost their families and been left to fend for themselves.

“It’s great to be involved in such a worthwhile project.”
