A MAN who was assaulted in Stockbridge Village on Monday night was stabbed and smashed over the head, it emerged last night.
As the Daily Post reported yesterday, the 22-year-old victim was left in a critical condition in hospital after he became involved in a fight with two men in Barons Hey.
He was stabbed in the leg and suffered a head injury.
Police said the victim, who is from the Childwall area, was taken to the scene by a friend in a white van, but as he got out of the vehicle to speak to the two men he was assaulted.
Police said the offenders were thought to be wearing dark tracksuits and either hoods or hats.
