POLICE have launched a crackdown against anti-social behaviour in Wirral by making a number of streets a “designated area.”
It means youths will not be allowed to congregate in areas within Seacombe, and gives officers powers to move them on and arrest those who return within 24 hours.
Police said it would help combat anti-social behaviour which has been making life difficult for residents.
Wallasey Neighbourhood Sergeant Paul Parry said: “Dispersal orders can be incredibly successful in combating anti-social behaviour.
“Residents in this area have been subject to ongoing intimidation, and having to live within an area which is subject to criminal damage and face persistent anti-social behaviour.”
The designated zone covers all areas within the boundary of Brighton Street (from the junction of Rappart Road to the junction of Borough Road), Liscard Road (from the junction of Liscard Road to the junction of Borough Road), Borough Road, Rappart Road, Riverview Road and Demesne Street.
PC Ruth Sharp from Wallasey’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are continuously working towards making the streets safer.”
The area will be in force until July 2.
