Council leader backs Jaguar Land Rover campaign

Leader of Liverpool City Council, Cllr Warren Bradley

LIVERPOOL Council leader Warren Bradley and Knowsley Council leader Ron Round last night backed the Daily Post campaign to Support Jaguar Land Rover.

Cllr Bradley said: “The Government found billions to save the banking industry: only a fraction of that is needed to help save the UK’s car industry.

“Jaguar and Vauxhall are vital for the future of our local manufacturing economy – directly employing 4,200 people and supporting thousands more jobs.

“Jaguar Land Rover is facing an unprecedented crisis sparked by a massive drop in demand for new cars.

“The Government cannot stand by and allow car production to cease.”

Knowsley’s Ron Round, added: “We would welcome any assistance the Government could offer Jaguar Land Rover. Knowsley has a long and proud history of car manufacturing dating back to 1963, when Ford opened its Halewood plant.”
