POLICE have launched a manhunt after a Wirral father was knifed to death and his teenage son seriously injured in what detectives believe is a domestic attack.

Officers want to speak to Gary Finlay in connection with their investigation into the murder of 45-year-old Graham McKenna, who died on Saturday following an attack in Claughton.

It is thought the father and his 14-year-old son were on their way to watch Everton beat Hull 2-0 at Goodison Park. Last night, friends of Mr McKenna expressed their upset about his death.

They described a passionate Evertonian and brave serviceman who had fought for his country.

Police warned members of the public not to approach Finlay, whom they say is dangerous.

At 12.45pm on Saturday, police received reports of a fight on Speedwell Road, in Claughton.

It is believed that Mr McKenna and his son were walking towards a bus stop on Upton Road, where they were both attacked and stabbed in the stomach.

Mr McKenna later collapsed in Speedwell Road, followed by his son, and both were taken to hospital, where Mr McKenna later died.

His son’s condition is described as serious but stable. Yesterday, Claughton residents were coming to terms with the vicious attack, and flowers lay near to the scene of Mr McKenna’s collapse.

A cordon remained around Speedwell Road and the surrounding area. A property was also covered with tarpaulin, which was later removed.
